An excuse for frequenting cemeteries

I like cemeteries.  Maybe it’s because I grew up with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I don’t think so.  I was never goth, never went on a ghost hunt or held a seance or anything creepy like that… I was too busy wavering between punk, grunge and hippie throwback (although I did go through a Tori Amos/PJ Harvey phase).

I’ve got to cemeteries in every place I’ve lived or visited.  They make me feel like I’m walking through some ancient ruin.  Cemeteries are the only places where time is completely irrelevant.  Anyway, I’m pretty sure it has more to do with the statuary.  I’ve always been fascinated with sculpting and there is just something about carved stone that lends itself to black and white photography…
