I am tough on headphones. No, I’m not some extreme sports fanatic and I don’t work in hazardous environments. The usual means for destruction is the impromptu dunk of an ear bud or two in my coffee mug. Funny, yes, but not very exciting and having ruined at least a dozen sets over the last year or so, it’s getting a little too expensive for a full-out chuckle anymore.
I’ve gone through various styles and price ranges. The dollar store ear buds don’t fare any better than the $20 ones. I’ve even dug out my JetBlue in-flight entertainment headset from my travel gear and, although they did the job for a while, they messed up my hair and I ended up snapping them in half.
And then, out of nowhere, I saw THIS!
After watching this entertaining video, I was certain that these were EXACTLY what I need…The Monster Jamz High Performance In-Ear Headphones are virtually indestructible! Now, if only they showed me how they fared against “puppy” and “cappuccino” along with the hammers and mallets.
I’m leaning towards the Surge 2G Waterproof Sport Headphones by H2O Audio.
Falling a little closer to a reasonable price range, I can almost justify the purchase or, more likely, hint around for a Christmas gift. I also love that they come with five different sizes of earplugs to ensure a proper waterproof seal and comfort while swimming, jogging, and drinking out of an open-topped Pumpkin Spice Latte. (If you know me, you’ll know which of the aforementioned “sports” I practice at an Olympic level.)
So, the question I’m left with is, “How much is my listening pleasure worth to me?”
What is it worth to you?
Mariah,
After you find the indestructible pair … would you find the un-lose-able pair? 🙂
Absolutely! I’ll keep you posted 🙂 Maybe something with GPS tracking built in…
For some truly indestructible headphones the GermanMaestro GMP 8.35 D is about as tough as it gets. They are used by German tank drivers!

Thanks for that! I’ll try them out when I inevitably destroy this set 🙂
