Photo(s) of the Day

May 31

Do you have that thing?  You know… that thing.  That thing you walk/drive/jog past and every time you think, “One day, I’ll stop and take a picture of that.”  For some it’s a perfect sunset vista, others an old broken down barn.  For me it’s this old dead tree off the Turnpike.  I’ve driven past it more times than I can count over the last 12+ years and finally stopped on my way home from visiting a friend in Crystal River.

You can barely see its branches reaching out from behind the living trees there on the right.

Ho. Ly. Cow.

This voice… currently killing me.  I’ve talked before about wanting Mahalia Jackson’s voice HERE but I would be amazingly pleased with Adele’s.

This song… perfection.

Adventures in Typography meets Quote of the Day

May 18

I love a good quote.  I’m one of those people who actually thought long and hard about buying some Quote of the Day toilet paper (I spotted it years ago in a catalog… a quick Google search did find me this design very appropriate for my birthday tomorrow!)  Quotes line my cubicle walls.  They end up scrawled on the back of my hand.  I even memorize quotes of the red letter variety.

A quote can clarify a muddled state of mind.

I spotted this gem in a friend’s Facebook status.  Call it serendipitous but I think it was a sign, especially after several conversations with separate friends about discipline (or lack thereof).  This colorway customized for my favorite lady over at Dasheen Magazine!

Want a copy?  Let me know :)

What style would you call this?

May 11

This is the kind of question I imagine interviewers asking decorators for those high faluting magazines like Architectural Digest (which I love btw).

It got me thinking.  When it comes to my first house, “What do I want my answer to be?”  The answer came to me in a rhyme of sorts.

I don’t know what this means yet but I’ll have this print ready for framing when I figure it out!
